Samoa Joe vs. Sami Zayn (Best 2 Out of 3 Falls, NXT Championship Number One Contendership)
It became pretty clear early on in this match that it was going to be a long one, the new men spent the first fifteen minutes or so feeling each other out and generally stalling. We got the first fall, with Joe hitting Sami with a Musclebuster, fairly late into the match by which point things had started to get going a little more. The second fall was much of the same, lots of slow plodding work until Sami begins to fire up and submit Joe with the Koji Clutch. The final fall was a little more exciting, but ultimately this entire match suffered due to its length; I understand it’s a big time match but these guys could’ve had an incredible 20-odd minute match but were forced into a pretty good 45 minute match. Joe is a more interesting opponent for Balor than Sami, especially since Zayn has bigger things on the horizon, so I am not super against the winner. Samoa Joe beats Sami Zayn 2:1 ***
