Fight! Nation Wednesday Night Wrestling #2 Review

Air Date: 10/8/16

After a solid show last week, Fight! Nation follows up with a main event of Marty Scurll vs. Mark Haskins in a title match that is sure to deliver big time. The show opens with a cool video package setting up the main event featuring sit down interviews with both Scurll and Haskins like we got last week which worked really well to sell the importance of this match.

Doug Williams vs. Pyscho Phillips

It’s always great to see Doug Williams still wrestling, he’s a great wrestler that came along a few years too early. Pyscho Phillips is a young-ish wrestler that mostly works these kind of smaller shows, my issue with him in this match was that nothing about his wrestling makes him seem like he’s insane, it’s all pretty normal and standard. This was a pretty solid match regardless, Williams hasn’t lost a step and carried most of it but Phillips fired up towards the end and brought a good intensity even if he does need a little work in the ring, his strikes especially. Haskins cuts an awesome promo in the ring before his next match.

Marty Scurll (c) vs. Mark Haskins (Fight! Nation British Heavyweight Championship)

What an absolutely incredible sprint this was. These two men somehow had an epic match in front of a crowd of young children in about 15 minutes, my word. Because of how quickly everything moved in this match a couple of big moments didn’t mean quite as much as they should’ve which is my biggest complaint, but the match was exciting and held my attention throughout so they did something right. There were a lot of shenanigans towards the end of the match which I could’ve done without, but Marty was so good at acting shocked when Haskins overcame it all and a crowd that was so on the side of Haskins meant it didn’t hurt the match too much. This crowd of maybe 200 people was so hyped for the finish it sounded like there were thousands in attendance. Mark Haskins pins Marty Scurll to win the title ****

Overall: 6.0

Another very good show with a main event that really deserves to be seen. This show is slowly becoming one of my favourite youtube shows and I hope they can keep up this quality. Check out this episode here.
