Fight! Nation Wednesday Night Wrestling #1 Review

Air Date: 3/8/16

Fight! Nation is a fairly new company that runs regular shows in the South of England. The company used to be affiliated with the NWA but have left now and started a regular YouTube show highlighting one or two matches from their recent shows. This inaugural episode starts with highlights of two matches that Josh Bodom and Ryan Smile had late last year, with each man winning one match making the series one a piece. As such this show will have the third match in their series, which will be 2 out of 3 falls.

After that we get a sit down interview with Jakey and Brucey, who are working a popstar gimmick. These two are better known to RevPro fans as The British Young Bloods, but they showed more character in this one promo than I’ve ever seen from them so I am all in for this gimmick.

Liquid Dreams (Jakey and Brucey) vs. DND (Cieran Donnelly and Danny Duggan)

Very hot start to this match with both teams immediately going after each other. This was a pretty fun sprint, with Liquid Dreams dominating for the most part, and frankly being more exciting than I’ve seen them before. Big fan of these guys working full on heel with a more interesting gimmick. Jakey pins Cieran Donnelly after a low blow ***

We get a quick promo for Marty Scurll vs. Mark Haskins for the title next week, which should be something special.

Josh Bodom vs. Ryan Smile (Best 2 Out of 3 Falls)

Bodom immediately picks up the first fall after going after Smile. Josh then bullies Smile for much of the second fall, but just can’t put him away. Smile sold very well in this fall and played a very good underdog babyface before getting the rollup win. The third fall started with a call back to the first fall, this time with Ryan going after Josh which I really appreciated. Bodom was good in his role as the bully in this final fall, but Smile was really the star. His selling was just as awesome and he had one of the best fiery babyface comebacks I’ve seen all year, he’s been getting a lot of hype in the last few months but my god is Ryan Smile something great. Ryan Smile wins the final fall with the Six Star Frog Splash *** ½

Overall: 6.0

Super easy to watch show with a great main event and a fun, short opener. This show is really recommended, watch it here.
