It’s been a while but it’s time for some C-show action. Although Superstars is normally the weaker of the two C-shows it can still be some fun.
Mark Henry and Jack Swagger vs. The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor)
This must be like the fifth or sixth time these two teams have faced off and the matches are never anything special, despite featuring C-show Ace Jack Swagger. We got a pretty boring, albeit thankfully very short, heat segment with Konnor working on Henry leading to an awesome hot tag to Swagger who killed Viktor and beautifully contoured a running splash into a Patriot Lock for the win. This may have been the best Ascension performance I’ve seen in a long time, Konnor showed some personality in his heat segment and Viktor was bumping all over the place for Jack. Jack Swagger makes Viktor tap to the Patriot Lock ** ¾
After some RAW recaps, this week the Sasha Banks/Team BAD split and Owens/Ziggler, we head to our main event.
Stardust vs. Zack Ryder
Bless these two, they worked their asses off in front of a crowd that didn’t give two shits about them and had them into it by the end. There was nothing super flashy about this, except for maybe Zack Ryder pulling out some impressive high flying but even that wasn’t anything crazy. It followed a simple formula, Ryder gets some early offence, gets cut off by Stardust, starts to make a comeback but ultimately loses, and this match shows that keeping things simple can sometimes work out very well. Stardust wins with the Queen’s Crossbow ***
This is why I love the C-shows, on paper these two matches are nothing and would get maybe five minutes total on RAW or Smackdown. But here they get given time and almost over deliver.
