Air Date: 3/2/16
The show starts with a video package hyping Finn Balor and Apollo Crews in a non-title match tonight. Apollo hasn’t really done anything for me since debuting but a match with Balor might change that.
The Vaudevillains (Simon Gotch and Aiden English) vs. Hype Bros (Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder)
The Vaudevillains have apparently turned heel, we only know this because their music turned more evil or something? I think I am the only person that doesn’t hate the Hype Bros, they work well as a middle of the pack tag team and seem over with the kids. This match was basically an extended squash to re-establish Gotch and English after their loss of the tag titles. English pinned Ryder with the Whirling Dervish ** ½
Carmella has a sit down interview with Tom Phillips talking about becoming the new number one contender. This was very good in giving more character depth to Carmella who has always been a little bit two dimensional, plus she came across as a lot more confident as speaker which is great.
Dash and Dawson cut a pretty solid promo backstage talking about Enzo Amore and Big Cass. It was short and sweet, not much more to say about it than that.
Carmella vs. Emma (w/Dana Brooke)
Fine match, but the crowd was completely dead which is a bad sign since Full Sail loves everybody. Carmella pins Emma with a roll up * ¾
Sami Zayn and Samoa Joe are both shown talking about the controversy from last week. Joe looked like an absolute badass in his “interview.”
Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady vs. Jack Hurley and Ricky Starks
Enzo and Cass cut pretty good promos before the match. The two jobbers didn’t even get given names. Boring squash, even though I love serious Enzo and Cass. Enzo Amore gets the pin *
William Regal makes a number one contender match between Samoa Joe and Sami Zayn to clear up the controversy from last week. That could be a lot of fun.
Asuka vs. Santana Garrett
Santana is a woman that has a lot of hype on the indie scene, and she got a decent amount of offence in this match and looked pretty good. That is until Asuka killed her with an armbar and the Asuka Lock. Asuka makes Santana submit to the Asuka Lock **
Apollo Crews vs. Finn Balor
This match look a hell of a long time to get going, what felt like the first 5-8 minutes were spent in a poor looking headlock spot. Once thinks finally got going we got a very fun 5 minute or so sprint. I am still not completely sold on Crews but he looked solid here, his biggest issue seems to be that he just can’t work a slower paced match but instead needs to be going at a million miles an hour. Finn Balor pins Apollo Crews with a Bloody Sunday ** ¾
Decent show with a fine main event, NXT TV has been very squash match heavy these last few weeks and honestly the show has become very skippable. Hopefully things pick up soon.
