Ring of Honor TV 6/2/16 Review

Air Date: 6/2/16

Frankie Kazarian (w/Chris Sabin) vs. Alex Shelley

This was a fine opening match with both guys working hard, it went longer than I would’ve liked given what they did but that’s a small complaint. There was a weird moment at one point with Steve Corino on the phone saying he will be on the show next week to talk to BJ Whitmer. We got some more Sabin and Shelley interactions as well so hopefully something will come from that. Alex Shelley pinned Kazarian after hitting Sliced Bread #2 ** ½

Joey “Diesel” Daddiego (w/Truth Martini) vs. Dalton Castle (w/The Boys)

Nothing match. Dalton Castle wins after a Bangarang * ¼

Scorned lover Silas Young is out after the match with the Beer City Bruiser. They take out Castle and again offer The Boys a return to them, which they deny. Silas and the Bruiser destroy both The Boys and Dalton. This has been such a fun storyline and this segment was pretty good.

Leon St. Giovanni vs. Action Ortiz (2016 Top Prospect Tournament First Round)

LSG is a very generic looking guy, while Ortiz kind of has a Bam Bam Bigelow vibe to him. Decent little match with the crowd not reacting at all to anything going on. LSG looked better than Ortiz to me but both men are far from ready for the big time. LSG’s selling looked a little too cartoon-y to me at times and Ortiz’s offense leaves a lot to be desired and it looked like he was already getting tired. Ortiz wins with The Killscreen **

Kevin Kelly is with Stokely Hathaway, he challenges Okada on behalf of Moose for the 14th Anniversary show. That could be a pretty damn good match, especially since Okada isn’t a guy that normally treats these kind of shows as a day off.

War Machine (c) (Rowe and Hanson) vs. The All Night Express (Kenny King and Rhett Titus) (RoH World Tag Team Championship)

This is the tag title match that ANX won at Final Battle. This was a fun brawling match with both teams just trying to kill each other. The finish came with Kenny King being driven through a table that he set up, leading to a DQ. War Machine and ANX had to be pulled apart after the match. Awesome stuff, I assume a rematch is coming at the 14th Anniversary with some kind of gimmick. ANX win by DQ. ***

Overall: 5.0

I am starting to see a pattern with these RoH TV shows, the whole show will be mediocre and then end with a good to great main event.
